  • Question: Will the text be extracted from my PSD template?
  • Answer: Yes, PSD to CSS converter service will keep all the text styles from the PSD design.
  • Question: What will I get as a result of automatic PSD to HTML/CSS conversion?
  • Answer: PSD to CSS online converter will automatically create zip archive with:
    1) index.html - HTML layout of your web site
    2) style.css - CSS style file
    3) 'images' folder - images that are used in the HTML web layout
    4) 'unused_images' folder - images that are not used in the CSS layout but which may be usefull in some cases. Mostly, that are images of PSD text layers.
Download example of resulting markup. Original PSD file.
  • Question: Size of my PSD file is 80Mb, but you have a limitation of 40Mb. Can you allow to upload a big file?
  • Answer:  No, there are some technical limitations that do not allow us to convert PSD files of big size. What can you do? Try to lessen number of layers in the PSD file: remove all hidden layers and groups in your PSD template. Then, rasterize all Smart Objects in your template. That will help in almost all cases. Don't forget to make a backup of the file first!
  • Question: I got 'Unsuccessful file processing' warning. What should I do?
  • Answer: May be we currently have some maintenance work on the server. But most probably, uploaded file is to big or has too many layers and its processing takes more time than it is allowed. What can you do? Try to lessen number of layers in the PSD file: remove all hidden layers and groups in your PSD template (don't forget to make a backup of the file first!). If the problem persists, please contact us for the details - we will try to help you.
  • Question: Why colors in HTML layout differ from colors in my PSD template?
  • Answer: Presumably, you are using an image color mode other than RGB (for example, CMYK). Images of your PSD template are converted into RGB mode. That means that the most similar colors in RGB mode are selected and some image color information may be lost during the conversion. Use RGB image color mode for you PSD template.
  • Question: Can you guarantee that the slice result will be W3C valid and cross-browser compatible?
  • Answer: We perform regular testing of the generated html/css for the W3C validity and cross-browser compatibility.
Generated HTML markup passes W3C validation test as XHTML 1.0 Strict.
We test cross-browser compatibility only in modern browsers, like Firefox >= 3.5, IE >= 8.0, Safari >= 4.0, Chrome >= 8.0, Opera >= 10.0. Also, slicing result passes browser compatibility test in the Dream Weaver CS5.5 (for browsers Firefox >= 1.0, Netscape >= 7.0, IE >= 5.0, Safari >= 1.0, Chrome >= 7.0, Opera >= 7.0). Anyway, it is not quite feasible to guarantee cross-browser compatibility.
  • Question: On the converted HTML web page I can't click on a link or select a text, why?
  • Answer: Some layer or layer group overlays text or link on the HTML web page. Please, find how to avoid it at our documentation page.
  • Question: Text lines hyphenation in the paragraph is different from that I have in my Photoshop layout. Is it an error?
  • Answer: Size of area occupied by the text may vary in Photoshop and different browsers. For the precise control of text boundaries edit text layers in the "Paragraph Text" mode, not in the "Point Text" mode. In this editing mode you will be able to set the boundaries for the text. To change an edit mode right click on the text layer in the layers panel and choose the right option - either "Convert to Paragraph Text" or "Convert to Point Text".
Another one cause of the problem is text antialising. You should always set antialiasing of text layers to 'None'. CSS does not support antialiasing, that's why even in case if handcoding it is not possible to create a text of the same shape and size as the Photoshop text layer with antialiasing has.
